About the author
'Sons of Galloway' is written and published on the Web by Stuart Wilson of Auchencairn, Kirkcudbrightshire (now living near Nottingham).
I am a member of the Auchencairn History Society and, for my part, intend to publish a book on the village's contribution to the Great War effort.
I have spent the last few years researching this book, and during this time have also been gathering information relating to two larger projects that have been gradually developing:
- 5th King's Own Scottish Borderers in WW1
- focusing on the human stories behind the battalion's campaign
- Stewartry Roll of Honour 1914-1918
- an updated version of the original book published in 1927
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people at the Galloway News, the KOSB Museum, Castle Douglas Library, The Ewart Library, Stranraer Museum and the Galloway Gazette for their positive attitude and their help in getting these projects up and running. And not forgetting Orange House Design Ltd for all the time and hard work put into this Web site.
The Auchencairn project should be published in late summer 2008 and so I am now asking for assistance with the two projects mentioned above. Please take some time to look through the Sons of Galloway Web site and if you think you van help with either of these projects then please get in touch.
Thank you,
Stuart Wilson
