Men who served with the local territorial battalion came from all around our region; including Dumfries, Moniaive, Annan, Langholm, Lockerbie, Moffat, Kirkconnel, Sanquhar, Thornhill, Maxwelltown, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Gatehouse, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart, Wigtown, Creetown and Whithorn.

A nominal roll of all men and women native to Kirkcudbrightshire, or resident in the county at the time of their enlistment, who served their country in the Great War.
Auchencairn and the Great War
The contribution made by one small Kirkcudbrightshire village, and the surrounding farms and estates, to the Great War effort.
